Milestone awards are issued when members achieve specific levels of milestone qualifying spend, starting at just $2,000. Milestone qualifying spend is tracked differently from tier qualifying spend and includes spending on WestJet travel but not amounts earned through Status Lift.

You’ll need to choose your award within one year of that date. If no selection is made, you’ll receive WestJet points as your default award.

A WestJet-wide companion voucher is valid for one round-trip WestJet flight anywhere we fly. To use the companion voucher, you must purchase one WestJet-marketed and operated flight in Economy or Premium for travel anywhere WestJet flies in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe or Asia and the second guest on the same itinerary will only pay the taxes, fees and charges and other ATC (Air Transportation Charges).

Book your companion voucher online

Valid for new bookings only. Not valid on existing reservations, reservations made through a travel agent or a third-party online booking tool.
Platinum and Gold members have the option to combine two companion vouchers issued as a milestone on the same reservation. To make a booking, please contact us via your respective priority support number, accessible via the WestJet app. Standard companion voucher rules apply, meaning each companion voucher must be redeemed towards the purchase of one WestJet-marketed and operated flight at full fare, in order to have the companion’s base fare waived.
Voucher number and expiry date are available when you sign into your account at westjet.com.
Booking must be made prior to the voucher expiry date; travel may occur after the voucher expiry date subject to flight schedule availability at the time of booking.
Valid on all published UltraBasic, Econo, EconoFlex, Premium and PremiumFlex fares, including seat sale fares and flights paid for in whole or in part with WestJet points. Not valid on Business, BusinessFlex or Member Exclusive fares, nor combinable with a discount code. The same fare type must be booked for both member and companion.
Valid for round-trip travel anywhere in WestJet's network on itineraries marketed and wholly operated by WestJet (including WestJet Encore or WestJet Link by Pacific Coastal Airlines); not valid on a WestJet Vacations, group or charter booking or when travelling with WestJet's code-share or interline partners.
Valid for travel at any time with no restrictions or blackout periods.
May only be used by member and one companion travelling on the same itinerary; vouchers are non-transferable. Maximum one companion voucher may be used per booking.
Base fare of the second guest on the itinerary will be waived. Applicable taxes, fees and charges and other ATC (Air Transportation Charges) are the responsibility of the guest and must be paid at time of booking.

Bookings made on westjet.com must originate from Canada and will be charged in Canadian dollars only. Bookings originating from outside Canada must be made through WestJet’s contact centre; reservations will be charged in either Canadian dollars or an available currency offered by WestJet at time of booking (e.g. GBP, EUR, etc.).
Changes or cancellations to companion voucher bookings are allowed, except when an UltraBasic fare has been purchased, which is a 100% non-refundable fare with no change options allowed. Bookings may be changed or cancelled online via Manage Trips. Guests are required to pay all applicable fees based on the fare type purchased for each ticket, plus the difference in fare on the regular ticket, if applicable. Changes must be made prior to the expiry date of the voucher used for the booking.
Voucher is valid for one-time use only. If booking is eligible for cancellation based on fare option purchased, voucher will be reinstated to the account; original expiry date of voucher applies. If one-way travel is booked, voucher will be deemed fully used and the return portion of travel is forfeited. If booking is made in the UltraBasic fare option, it is not eligible for cancellation (except within 24 hours of initial booking) and voucher will be forfeited.

How to use a companion voucher

Guest lounge vouchers may be used for guests (e.g. colleagues, friends, extended family members) travelling with you who do not have access through your regular tier benefits. With guest lounge vouchers you’ll be everyone’s new best friend.

Voucher terms and conditions

Advance seat selection vouchers may be used for other guests travelling with you on the same reservation and are in addition to the guest vouchers awarded as part of your tier benefits. From a family vacation to Europe, to a buddy trip to Las Vegas, and everything in between, your travel companions will enjoy complimentary advance seat selection when travelling with you.

A WestJet-marketed flight is any flight that has a WS carrier code preceding the flight number (eg. WS 656, WS 3109, WS 5010). The flight may be operated by WestJet, WestJet Encore, WestJet Link by Pacific Coastal, or a partner airline. Regardless of which carrier operates it, if the flight number starts with WS and you have purchased an eligible published fare you will earn WestJet points on that flight.

Once you achieve Silver, Gold or Platinum, you'll get to keep your flight benefits for the remainder of your current qualifying year until the end of your next qualifying year. The ability to keep your Silver, Gold or Platinum tier and benefits in future years is based on your total qualifying spend in the second year and each year following. Exceptions to the validity period may apply when flight benefits are awarded on a promotional basis.

6. Effective April 30, 2025, primary cardholders on a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard and/or WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard for Business credit card account (“Eligible Cardholder(s)”) will have access to an improved version of “Status Lift”, an annual benefit to help Eligible Cardholders achieve the Silver, Gold or Platinum status faster each year, by providing them a supplemental method to earn tier qualifying spend.

Eligible Cardholders will earn the equivalent of 200 CAD in tier qualifying spend for every $5,000 in Eligible Purchases (as defined below) (“Status Lift”) charged to their WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard and/or WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard for Business credit card account (each, an “Eligible RBC World Elite Account”) during a Qualifying Year (as defined below). Status Lift(s) will be added to their other tier qualifying spend and count towards reaching their next WestJet Rewards tier. If an Eligible Cardholder has two (2) Eligible RBC World Elite Accounts, the Eligible Purchases (as defined below) made with both accounts will be combined towards reaching the $5,000 in Eligible Purchases.

Applicable to existing Eligible Cardholders prior to April 30, 2025: Eligible Purchases (as defined below) that appear on January, February, March and April 2025 monthly statements of an Eligible Cardholder will count towards the new Status Lift qualifying spend of $5,000 in Eligible Purchases and any additional Lift(s) will be credited by WestJet to their WestJet Rewards account in May 2025.

“Eligible Purchases” means the total of net purchase transactions, made by all cardholders on the Eligible RBC World Elite Account, that appear on the Eligible RBC World Elite Account monthly statements prepared during a Qualifying Year (as defined below), minus returns, other credits, fees, interest charges, and cash advances (such as balance transfers, cash-like transactions and bill payments that are not pre-authorized charges set up with a merchant).

“Qualifying Year” means January 1 to December 31 of each calendar year. For new Eligible RBC World Elite Accounts, it means the period between the first Eligible RBC World Elite Account monthly statement date, and December 31.

A Status Lift may be awarded up to fifty (50) times per Qualifying Year, which is equivalent to 10,000 CAD in tier qualifying spend. A Status Lift will be awarded approximately ten (10) business days after the monthly statement date for which the $5,000 in Eligible Purchases is reached.

For each Qualifying Year, Status Lifts are awarded based on the total Eligible Purchases posted to an Eligible RBC World Elite Account(s) until the December monthly statement date (that is the date the statement is prepared). This means that some purchases made in December may not count towards the $5,000 in Eligible Purchases for that Qualifying Year. For example, if monthly statements are prepared on the 27th day of each month and a purchase is made on December 28, the transaction will be posted to the January monthly statement and will not count towards the $5,000 in Eligible Purchases for the current Qualifying Year. Status Lift(s) and Eligible Purchases will reset to zero (0) at the start of each Qualifying Year.

For an Eligible Cardholder to earn a Status Lift, their Eligible RBC World Elite Account must be open and in good standing at the time the Status Lift is awarded. If an Eligible RBC World Elite Account is closed before the end of a Qualifying Year, WestJet reserves the right to remove any Status Lift(s) and/or tier upgrade(s) the Eligible Cardholder may have received through this benefit.

Tier qualifying spend earned through Status Lift have no monetary or other exchange value and cannot be sold or transferred.

WestJet and Royal Bank of Canada reserve the right to change or withdraw the Status Lift benefit at any time.
