Worst hotel in antigua

I am deeply disappointed with the royalton of antigua i have stayed here for the past 3 days and it has been most disappointing , we made reservations through there website, to top that off they cancelled our reservation for no apparent reason , secondly we were disrespected by the customer service reps even tho we booked the diamond club suite and were still meet with the worst service ever, i have stayed through the Caribbean and the USA and have never been met with such horrible service and poor hotel amenities, we have have a 2 year old baby and we arrived at the hotel at 9 and was only allowed to check in at 11:45 pm in the night and we still have not been compensated for anything

My husband and I have just returned from this so called luxury hotel, luxury it isn't. The hotel claims to be a 5 star and I'm struggling to give it a 1 star and that's being fair. We upgraded to the diamond club, don't waste your money. The only communication with the butler was a text to say they've started the day and finished the day, no service. The rooms are classed as luxury junior suites, I have stayed in better budget hotels. The food when available was cold, poor and not nicely presented. Trying to book the premium restaurants even with the butlers was impossible. The steakhouse as they call it is awful, bad food and service. This is the first time I have been on holiday and actually lost weight. The bar around the pool even ran out of basics such as beer, cola and water and did not get any more stock until the next day. The staff in general couldn't be bothered, were rude and untrained. The management cant even be bothered to meet you to discuss a complaint and if they do nothing is done about it. In general, if you are looking for a decent hotel in a luxury paradise environment don't waste your money and come here. Take note of what other reviews are saying as they are 100% true.

Great location, low end experience

We have traveled a lot of places and this was probably the lowest quality of any Marriott branded beach resort. The grounds are not well maintained at all. Bushes not trimmed, grass not mowed. I don’t think we saw a single maint worker the entire time. Buildings and facilities are worn out. Mold, worn out furnishings, areas needing paint were common. Rat race for reservations for nicer restaurants. Service is generally slow, which leads to not being able to get you seated at actual reservation times. Buffet gets wiped out of food at a certain time of evening and employees are unable to recover. Gelato? They are out of it well before dessert time after dinner and do not refill. Pool bar is filthy by end of day. Flies everywhere, stacks of dirty plastic glasses. Kind of gross. Diamond club lunch at the pool may have oddly been the best food. As far as rooms, the smaller rooms face a bay, not the ocean. The suites are on the backside of the hotel with a view of a mountain. This isn’t a property with great views. Just be prepared for that. We sort of had to stuff all of that down and make the best of it. We learned to have low expectations and be surprised if something went well. Up early for breakfast, remember to make your dinner reservations at 9:55 am, make drinks in Yeti containers at diamond club lounge to avoid pool bar. And most of all concentrate on the weather and really nice beach. This is the Wal Mart equivalent of beach resort. If the price is right and this is the type of experience you are ok with then it may be right for you. We would absolutely not return.

Royalton stay

Royalton is so perfect. From the front desk to the pool to gym everything was great. 5 of us came for vacation and we enjoyed. Pool and beach really love the view and the atmosphere. I met Jameel in the gym, real nice guy, the gym itself is big and very spacious . Thank you guys so much

Disappointing.

A group of 8 friends and family visited your resort for a short vacation. The visit started badly with poor check in procedures (could not locate booking). We then had to wait longer than the 3pm check in time for the room. The restaurants were not impressive. The service was not as good as the Royalton in Mexico that was excellent.
