Lovely compact resort

coreyharvey73 (Toronto, Canada) on May 02, 2025

We were there April 7-14th 2025 Just the basics - No upgrades at all GROUNDS - very well maintained. We loved the lush and rustic feel of this place. Sweet little creatures who live on resort are no bother and seem to be very gentle and cautious. ROOMS - We had a lovely balcony (building 4) that was pool, garden, and ocean view since the property is on smaller side. Wonderful for us. It was exactly as depicted on their website: very spacious and very clean. Temp control was great. No issues here at all. Balconies may be too close for comfort for some. BEACH - We go to Cuba for the beaches, not here. Although, it seemed to always be cleared of that seaweed by the afternoon. Beach is too steep for most with mobility issues. POOLS - pretty good, on the smaller side, so you need to get up early to get chairs. We liked the stairs with railings in all pools for accessibility concerns. Pools have ladders as well. SPA - had couples massage - lots of stairs to access. Massage was relaxing and water therapies were lovely. FOOD - lots of fresh food, the food was our favourite things about this resort. Lots of choices and endless supply of guacamole!! DRINKS - basic drinks were very tasty but not strong enough for our tastes. CUSTOMER SERVICE - very good, Esther, at the front desk was especially helpful and went above and beyond for us. All staff we encountered were friendly and many offered help with my husband’s wheelchair. ACCESSIBILITY- 6/10 not completely flat and they have elevators for wheelchair users (or anyone really). Try to book in the 1000’s block (buildings 4/5/6) as there is manageable incline close to everything that comes out between buildings 5&6. FYI - there are 4 beach loungers (also close to pool) on each side of property that are reserved for guests with accessibility issues and are marked as such. We have found that they sometimes get pushed back and other people’s chairs crowd them making them literally inaccessible. We loved it here but would try another Catalonia next trip. P.S. the sports bartender was excellent with remembering drinks and providing superior service

Fantastic vacation at the Catalonia Yucatan Beach

nancybH3914YE (Perth, Canada) on Apr 28, 2025

We much enjoyed our vacation at the Catalonia Yucatan Beach in April. We liked the small size of the hotel and found it had some of the best service we've experienced. We have travelled extensively and the staff at this hotel is exceptional. We loved the buffet staff and found them to be very attentive. A big shout out to Guadeloupe, Francisco and the hostess Yasmin (not sure if I got name correct). We found the food was really good at the buffet -- always a lot of variety. If you like to eat fresh fruit and vegetables you will not be disappointed. It was really windy while we were there so it was not possible to snorkel. In fact, it was so windy that all the excursions were cancelled by the Coast Guard. We did go on an amazing excursion inland which included snorkelling in a fresh-water cenote, snorkelling in a cave and finally snorkelling in ocean lagoon. I almost forgot to commend the resort on its environmental policies. The hotel gardens are very beautiful and you will see tropical wildlife including agouti and many iguanas!

great day pass experience, a smaller resort that has adequate food and beach

rlmptl (Lloydminster, Canada) on Apr 18, 2025

While staying in a condo at Chac Hal Al last week nearby and with our daughter coming here a few weeks earlier and loving it, we did a day pass here for 65.00 US from 11 to 6 pm which allowed you to eat at the lunch buffet between 1 pm to 330 pm and access to the snack buffet as well as all the drinks you want, the grilled sandwiches kiosk and the crepe station which were delicious. Remember to call ahead to confirm they have availability for day pass people. We loved the snorkeling here and there are some fish to see in the roped off area and on the other side of the stone bridge in the lagoon area but it is very small area compared to the whole Fatima Bay at Chal Hal Al. We noted the resort was small and easy to navigate beach chairs could be had even after 11 when we arrived. We also had access to the Catalonia riviera as well. we mainly came for the snorkeling as the bay was more sheltered here and it was too windy at our condo the first 4 days. We did note that beach access for swimming was limited and rocky. We dont like AI cause of the crowds, standing in line for long periods for drinks or food and what we consider sub par food but it was fairly adequate here just not high end or a lot of selection if you are used to something like the Barcelo adults only mayan riviera premium then you will be disappointed but if you just want decent food and beach and ocean for a reasonable price point then this will definitely suit you. I cant speak to the rooms cause we were on day pass but our daughter loved it. we noted there are very limited rooms that face the oceanfront most all are pool view with ocean in the background. This was totally worth coming on day pass to experience the place

My stay at Catalonia Yucatan Beach

CanadaMyreview (Ottawa, Canada) on Apr 15, 2025

Arriving late at night at the reception we got a key (magnetic hand strap) very quickly to our room . Magnetic hand strap was great as you don't need to have keys with you. The room is large very well air-conditioned and had 2 very comfortable queen size beds, but the room itself was very basic with old furniture and a small tv 32". Bathroom was very simple with no bathtub just a shower with a curtain and Bathroom door was pealing off, felt like a cheap motel room. The room was cleaned when we ask for it to be cleaned. There was also a small fridge with 3 large bottles of water. The resort has 2 nice pools and a small beach front surrounded by rocks that was great for snorkelling, not good for people that like a long walk along a beach. We enjoyed snorkelling twice a day. There was one buffet restaurant for breakfast lunch and supper and food was great with additional 2 pool side eateries and 2 A la Carta restaurants that offered very good food. Bars have no quality high end drinks but just simple limited selection. We enjoyed excellent live music almost every day and great shows. Short walk from the hotel is Puerto Aventuras town with many shops, restaurants and Marina and was super safe as this is a gated town. We enjoyed the stay and found the resort to be a great value. To summerise: Service, people and entertainment - 5 stars. Food- 4 stars. Room- 3.5 stars.

Pay for the upgrade

Flyer55309374549 on Apr 08, 2025

The view from our room was beautiful, but the room itself felt like a cheap motel room. Musty, old, scratched up tub, door that’s difficult to close and the door is difficult to close. We slept in the room for one night and paid to upgrade to the sister resort next door which was wellllll worth the price! The beach is not really usable. Food is amazing! Bars are very limited hours and not a huge selection. Entertainment wasn’t awful but could have used more activities. Pools were great but it would be nice to add music throughout the day. Overall, we would return to Catalonia riviera maya but not Catalonia yucatan beach.
