Definitely deserving of a future return

Kat_NY1 (Stony Point, NY) on May 17, 2025

Just returned from a 10 day stay. Opinions always vary but I thought it was very nice. Big but there are shuttles that run from 1 end to the other. Dining was varied for different tastes .Mexican and Italian were our favorites. Activities throughout the day at different pool/location ., easily accessed on the app. Beach was nice but a bit rocky. Never had an issue with towels on chairs. Stayed in Privileged area which was well worth it. Staff was friendly and helpful. I'd return, for sure.

Privelege, an utter waste of money.

reecebrxwn (Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom) on May 17, 2025

We recently returned from a 14-night stay at Ocean Riviera Paradise in Mexico. We had booked the Privilege package and were specifically promised a rooftop terrace room with a private whirlpool and a king-size bed. Unfortunately, our stay got off to a disappointing start—we were given a room on the third floor with two double beds instead. After paying a premium for what was marketed as an upgraded, luxurious experience, this was frustrating and not at all what we expected. The main purpose of this review is to strongly advise: please do not waste your money on the Privilege package. It was, in our experience, a complete and utter waste. Friends of ours stayed in the Eden block, a non-Privilege section, and there was virtually no difference in the experience. One of the supposed perks of Privilege is access to premium spirits, but this was almost never honored. We often had to ask for our drinks to be remade with the correct branded alcohol—even when ordering something as specific as "Malibu and Coke," it was clear we were being served something else entirely. The Privilege restaurant was decent—the food was presented nicely, with some garnish and better plating—but it was essentially the same food served in the standard buffet. That said, the environment was much calmer, and the service was excellent. A special shoutout goes to Jose, who truly went above and beyond. He was a standout and a real asset to the team. The à la carte restaurants were, on the whole, underwhelming. The Mexican restaurant didn’t offer basics like burritos or meat tacos, which was surprising. At the steakhouse, despite being asked how we’d like our steak cooked, the food that arrived bore no relation to our requests. It felt like the kitchen simply had a stack of pre-cooked steaks and handed them out at random. The meat was extremely salty and overall quite poor in quality. The American restaurant was fairly good, and the Japanese restaurant was excellent—but don’t count on dining there. It seems they only offer bookings to guests on their last night as a courtesy, which is incredibly frustrating. As for the drinks across the resort, they were almost always overly sugary and poorly made. The beer was frequently flat, and finding a well-prepared cocktail was rare. Entertainment was average at best. The staff themselves were energetic and enthusiastic, but the programming lacked variety. There was also no real nightlife to speak of. The on-site “nightclub” felt more like a middle school disco, with a chaotic atmosphere and a sense of discomfort, particularly for women being approached by overly intoxicated guests. Despite all of these shortcomings, we did enjoy ourselves—largely because we made the most of our time with friends and the beautiful weather. However, if you are considering booking this resort, do not expect luxury. Ocean Riviera Paradise is not a luxury resort, regardless of how it may be marketed. Manage your expectations, and you may still have a pleasant time—but we strongly advise against paying extra for the Privilege experience.

Wonderful stay per usual

We've been here a few times and never had any complaints. We will start with out butler Antonio. He is always around. He is shaking hands around the poolside and seeing if anyone needs anything. Even if he's not your butler he helps. Available per whats app if you need him. He goes beyond anyone's needs. Helping out in the evenings when he's not around is Francisco was a great help. We were privilege and enjoyed all that it included. The private bar is the best with Augustine as well as the rest. Fidel at the privilege dining was always friendly and smiling. We were invited to the rooftop for a 5 course meal that was fantastic. Thank you. The grounds are immaculate and the pools are kept well. The service around the pool was quick and the pool bars were great. The resturants were never that busy and really didn't wait very long. I never ate in the buffet or route 66 but they were all very good. The steaks were good but have a different taste compared to the states. Check in was quick and smooth. The rooms were cleaned well and we had pull down service with our towels replenished. The entertainment was good. Loved the rock and roll music fron the 70's and 80's. Mike's made great smoothies. The crepe station was great. I didn't care for the elbeso lunchtime menu but I'm not a fish lover. I had a couple massages from the hot pink girls down on the beach. Lily is the best. We will be back next year.

Don't go for the waterslides

Kdwilde39 on May 16, 2025

The good parts about this place: - not too far from the airport so a quick transport which was nice - very friendly staff - good maids service - we had a daisy suite which was big and spacious - clean resort The bad parts about this place: - I spent a lot of time trying to find a resort that would cater to my 1 year old and my 8 year old. I liked that this place had the splash pad and warerslides in one place so my kids were close together. This IS the reason I picked this place. The water slides dont work. My son would get stuck inside and couldnt go down. I put a complaint into the resort and they said he wasnt using them at the right time of the day. All day every day, there were no kids on these slides. They werent flushing enough water down the slides. Huge disappointment. - The buffet was no good. There were so many flies at this resort and all over the food. The quality of the food was poor. There were 4 of us - 2 adults and 2 kids. We all got traveler's diarrhea. We got it while at the resort so we know it was from there. We are day 8 of having it. - the main lounge is really nice... but they have staff in there that harass you every day to become a privileged member. Its constant and they dont stop after you say no. I've travelled to mexico many times and stay at many different resorts. This was my worst experience.

Fabulous trip so far! Just had dinner in the Italian restaurant, La Locanda, Ricardo was amazing… very attentive and polite. The food was great too. The resort is very expansive, something for everyone. Staff are happy and kind … we are very happy here.
